Overall, a sunset tour of the Badlands National Park is an unforgettable experience that shouldn’t be missed. So, be sure to add it to your itinerary while visiting Mount Rushmore and witness the beauty of nature at its finest!
As the sun begins to set over the Badlands National Park, the sky transforms into a breathtaking array of colors that create a stunning backdrop to the rugged terrain. This magical moment is often referred to as the Golden Hour, a time when the sun is low on the horizon, creating warm, golden tones that cast a soft, diffused light on the landscape.
During the Golden Hour, animals that are usually hidden during the day come out of hiding to feed and roam. Visitors to the Badlands during this time may have the chance to see bighorn sheep, bison, and pronghorn antelope among others. It is a truly special time to witness the beauty of nature.
As the Golden Hour fades into the Blue Hour, the sky takes on a deep, rich blue hue, and the landscape takes on a more dramatic appearance. The Blue Hour is a brief period just after sunset, when the sky is still light enough to see, but the sun has dipped below the horizon. It’s a magical time to capture stunning photographs of the Badlands.
